Blood Pumping Fun

Kick your outdoor adventures up a notch in Spanish Peaks Country. Among our mountains and alongside our rivers and lakes, you can ride an OHV or a mountain bike on fun and challenging trails sure to get your blood pumping.

Activity #1 – OHV Cuchara Recreation Area

Head to the Cuchara Recreation Area for a morning OHV ride. You’ll discover the Indian Creek Trail for novice riders and the Trinchera Peak Trail for more experienced riders. Soak in gorgeous views and rich forests as you go deep into Spanish Peaks Country’s backcountry.

LUNCH: Dog Bar and Grill

Activity #2 – Mountain Biking in Cuchara

After you’ve digested lunch, jump on your mountain bike and explore more of Cuchara’s forests on the Dodgeton Trail. This 4.5-mile, moderate trail is accessed via the Spring Creek trailhead.

If you want a mellower ride, check out the Cuerno Verde Trail in Lathrop State Park. This 3-mile loop trail is paved and encircles Martin Lake. The trail offers exceptional views of the Spanish Peaks, the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range, and Green Mountain.
