In June of 2018 the Climax Canyon Nature Trail was designated a National Recreation Trail by the National Park Service. To commemorate its designation and to celebrate National Trails Day the Climax Canyon 5k has been moved to the first Saturday in June, nationally recognized as National Trails Day.
