La Veta Art Galleries
La Veta may be small and laid-back, but it’s also the art hub of the Spanish Peaks Region. Galleries featuring local, national, and international artists dot La Veta’s quaint Main Street. Art lovers are encouraged to spend time in La Veta and check out the following galleries.
#1 – Shalawalla Gallery, Gift Shop, and School
Visit Beth and Jonathan Evans, internationally known batik artists who have exhibited their work and taught in the U.S and abroad.
#2 – La Veta Gallery on Main
The La Veta Gallery on Main is known for its extensive offering of ceramic works, and also represents many local and regional artists working in paint, jewelry, fiber, photography, scratchboard, wood, and paper.
#3 – SPACe
The Gallery displays the works of regional artists in a variety of changing exhibits throughout the year, while the gift shop provides Spanish Peaks Art Council members a year-round outlet for their arts and crafts. Most of the exhibits shown in the gallery are open to all artists.
#4 – La Veta Mercantile
This place has super cute items, special souvenirs, fun gifts plus beautiful jewelry–all reasonably priced! They also host a variety of concerts where you can buy beer, wine, or other refreshments.
#5 – Kathy Hill Studio
Local Artist Kathy Hill’s work reflects the scenery and wildlife in the Cucharas Valley in Spanish Peaks Country. You will find works in watercolor, oil, and acrylic. Prints and reproductions are also available. Hill also paints commissions and offers classes.
#6 – La Veta School for the Arts
With well-known, respected instructors, La Veta School of the Arts has established a strong reputation for offering quality educational artistic experiences in one of the most breathtaking undiscovered parts of Colorado.
