If you’re still on the fence about how to spend your July, consider this your official invitation to ditch the ordinary and join us in Spanish Peaks Country.
Whether you’re a fireworks fanatic, car show enthusiast, music junkie, or culture lover, Spanish Peaks Country has your July mapped out. Bring your people, your playlists, and your picnic baskets.
4th of July: Sparkle Under the Stars at Lathrop State Park
What’s better than a fireworks show? A fireworks show by a lake, with the Spanish Peaks standing proud in the background like nature’s version of a mic drop.
Join us on Friday, July 4 at 9:30 PM at Lathrop State Park, Colorado’s first state park (and frankly, still one of the best). Grab a picnic basket, a blanket, and get ready to enjoy the show.
Campsites are available through Colorado Parks & Wildlife, or stay in downtown Walsenburg and explore the area’s shops and dining options.

Start Your Engines: The 3rd Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show

This isn’t your average cruise-in. We’ve got:
- Veterans judging the slickest rides
- Live music to groove while you ogle
- Local eats to keep your engine fueled
- And best of all, community spirit that could jumpstart even the grumpiest Monday
Donations go toward supporting our local veterans. For more details, click here.
