4th of July Fireworks at Lathrop State Park

Cap off Independence Day with a dazzling fireworks display reflecting over the water at Lathrop State Park, Colorado’s first state park, just west of Walsenburg.
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: At dusk, approximately 8:30 PM
Admission: Free with park entry
Location: Lathrop State Park, Walsenburg
Spread out a blanket along the shores of Martin and Horseshoe Lakes and watch the night sky come alive over the Spanish Peaks. Arrive early to find parking and a good viewing spot, and bring chairs, blankets, and layers for the cool evening mountain air. A valid Colorado state parks pass or daily vehicle pass is required for park entry.
Make a weekend of it in Spanish Peaks Country. The fireworks close out a full holiday weekend that includes the La Veta Independence Day Parade, the Cuchara Independence Day Parade, and the La Veta Art in the Park show. Book a stay in Walsenburg, La Veta, or Cuchara and enjoy the celebrations all weekend long.
