The Colorado You Brag About Finding

Come For the Quiet. Stay For the Soul. Spanish Peaks Country isn’t about being loud—it’s about being real. Real hikes, real food, real people. Whether you’re chasing wildflowers or chasing a second helping of green chile, this is the Colorado you didn’t know you were missing.

Meet Greenhorn Mountain

If your idea of a good hike doesn’t involve dodging selfie sticks or waiting in line for a summit shot, we’ve got a trail for you. Say hello to Greenhorn Mountain. It’s not trending. It’s not packed. It’s not bragging. But it should be. Tucked away in the northern reaches of Spanish Peaks Country, Greenhorn Mountain gives you five distinct ecosystems in one go—from prairie grasslands that hum with meadowlarks to wind-whipped alpine tundra that makes you feel like you’ve earned your solitude. With just 11 miles of trails up north and rugged wilderness to the south, it’s not just a hike—it’s an escape plan.

3,000 Miles of Grit, and It’s Rolling Through La Veta

That rumble you hear? It’s the Race Across America, a coast-to-coast test of willpower, sweat, and serious quads. From June 14–19, La Veta Pines RV Park is one of the official aid stations. That means elite cyclists, epic stories, and a lot of reasons to hang around and cheer wildly.

Bonus for the EV crowd: Free charging at La Veta Pines June 7–20. Come fuel up, in every sense of the word.
