The Spanish Peaks Outdoor Center foraging series continues, with a half day field session near Gardner Colorado. The class takes place on Malachite farm and ranch, near the site of the historic site of the town of Malachite. Located along the Huerfano river, Malachite Farm is home to hundreds of useful wild plants. Participants will learn identification techniques as we study and ethically forage for plants that can be used for food, herbal remedies, arts/crafts, weapons and more. Dangerous and poisonous plants will also be studied. We will focus on traditional uses of plants used by the indigenous peoples of the region, including early Spanish and Indo-European settlers.
