Blackhawk – GMU 85

Directions: From Walsenburg go south on -25 to exit 42, Rouse Road. Turn west and then immediately south. The road will turn west again and cross the railroad tracks. Go through the town of Pryor, stay straight, and head past the entry feature at Blackhawk Ranch. The parking lot is approximately one-half mile from here.

Access: Foot or horseback only.

Black Mountain – GMU 84

Directions: From Gardner, go 1 mile west on Hwy. 69. Turn north on USFS Rd. 634 and go 6 miles to USFS Rd. 635 (Black Mountain Road). Then go west 1/2 mile to access markers

Access: Foot or horseback only

Little Sheep Mountain – GMU 85

Directions: From Gardner, go southwest on CR 560 (Arco Road) and then go 7 miles to the property

Access: No vehicles allowed off county road

Schultz Canyon – GMU 85

Directions: From Walsenburg take CR 330 (Ideal Road) south for 11 miles

Wildlife: Deer, bear, mountain lion, rabbits, doves, band-tailed pigeons, turkeys
Access: No vehicles allowed off county road

Wolf Springs – GMU84

Directions: From Gardner take Hwy. 69 7 miles west to the property

Wildlife: Deer, elk
Access: Foot or horseback only

South Middle Creek – GMU 85

Directions: From La Veta go 1/2 mile south on Hwy. 12 to Indian Creek Road (USFS Rd. 410). Then go west 11 miles.

Wildlife: Deer, elk, bear, mountain lion, turkeys, blue grouse
Access: USFS Rd. 410 enters the property on the south side near the southwest corner. No vehicles allowed off roads. Foot or horseback only. Timber activity may be present.

Blue Spring – GMU 84

Directions: From Gardner go west on Hwy. 69 for 1 mile to national forest access road 634. Turn north on FS Rd. 634 and travel 13 miles to the property.

Access: Foot or horseback only.

Guillermo Ranch – GMU 85

Directions: From Walsenburg travel 15 miles northwest on Hwy. 69 to Badito Junction. From Badito Junction take CR 520 south for 6 miles to Majors Ranch entrance. Then travel west 1 1/4 miles on CR 520.1 to the southeast corner of the property

Wildlife: Antelope, dove, rabbit, coyote
Access: CR 520.1 enters the property on SE corner, then traverses property for 3 miles to west boundary.

State Wildlife Areas / Scenic Points

Huerfano

Directions: From Gardner go 13 miles west on CR 580
Acres: 544
Wildlife: Rabbits, deer, doves, elk and fishing in coldwater streams
Facilities: Restrooms, picnic tables
This is a beautiful area in the aspens with the Huerfano River flowing through the middle of it.

Wahatoya

Directions: From La Veta go 1 mile east on Bear Creek Road (CR 358) to the property
Acres: 203
Fishing: Coldwater lake – artificial flies or lures only!
Access: No camping, fires, or ice fishing, or motorized boats.
Facilities: Restroom, parking area
