This cherished mountain-town tradition brings out decorated floats, classic cars, kids on bikes, and plenty of red, white, and blue along Cuchara’s main street at nearly 8,500 feet. Bring a chair, line the route, and soak up the cool mountain air and community spirit.

Make a weekend of it in Spanish Peaks Country. Pair the parade with the La Veta Independence Day Parade on July 3, the Art in the Park show, and the evening fireworks at Lathrop State Park. With scenic drives, hiking, and small-town charm all around, it is an easy weekend to fill in La Veta, Cuchara, or Walsenburg.
